Another country, another AirBnb. This time I would be staying with Roman. I honestly can't say enough positive things about the people who welcomed me into their homes, especially Roman. I am so lucky to have met him and his friend, Gerhard. When I arrived in Vienna, Roman, showed me around the apartment, gave me all the important info about my new home for the next few days, introduced me to his cats, then asked if I was hungry and if I would like to go out with him and his friend, Gerhard, to get a bite to eat. As always I was and wouldn’t have passed up the chance to get to know them even if I wasn’t. It always blows my mind how quickly a stranger can become a friend. The three of us sat around a table at a small café, talking; them telling me about places to see during my visit and me telling them about my travels so far. There wasn’t one awkward moment. It was so natural; like these were my friends who I had always known. We talked about my screen printing and their travels to India. Where to get the best desserts and which towers to climb. Both Roman and Gerhard were even kind enough to give me gifts for Easter! I am a one lucky lady to have such thoughtful friends in my life. Thank you, Roman and Gerhard for being you. Your kindness and generosity helped heal my heart during a very hard time in my life. I look forward to the day when I see you both again. xo
The next day I happily took Roman and Gerhard's recommendations and went out to see Vienna. One stop was to St. Stephan's, I love going to old cathedrals, and architecturally I’m so amazed by them. Today's buildings are usually so boring; all glass and no character. St. Stephan also had a spectacular tower to climb and at this point in the trip I had decided to climb anything I could figuring the steps could help offset everything I was eating! The south tower has 343 stairs, while climbing you can see views of the beautiful, tiled roof. St Stephan is beautiful inside and out and definitely worth a visit.
Volksgarten, Burggarten, and Vienna City Hall are also beautiful areas. I will let the photos speak for themselves but its worth a stroll through these parts of the city. I recommend sitting in one or all of the parks to people watch.
